The 21-year-old had already come close with a driving run and shot when he advanced again to cleverly exchange passes with Gylfi Sigurdsson and finish unerringly into the bottom corner from 12 yards.
Richarlison’s performance in France, which combined invention and ambition with no little industry, came on the back of a promising 45 minutes on his first appearance for the Club at Blackburn 48 hours earlier.
