Al-Ettifaq release tongue-in-cheek apology after Jordan Henderson is pictured with Everton initials on his new shirt following £12m move to Saudi Arabia

Jordan Henderson's new club Al-Ettifaq have issued a tongue-in-cheek apology after the former Liverpool skipper was pictured with an unintended Everton reference on his new shirt.

The Saudi Arabian club took to Instagram to say sorry for putting their club initials, E.F.C, on the back of Henderson's shirt as they are the same letters as Liverpool's Merseyside rivals.

Henderson joined up with former team-mate and now manager of Al-Ettifaq Steven Gerrard in a £12m move to the Saudi Pro League side in late July.

The two ex-Reds captains join former Liverpool players Fabinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane who are all now plying their trade in the Middle East.
