EVANSVILLE – After a first half strike put the University of Evansville women's soccer team ahead on Sunday afternoon, the Purple Aces found themselves just seven minutes shy of claiming the top spot in the Missouri Valley Conference with a game to go. However, visiting Illinois State had other plans, finding the net twice over the final minutes of regulation to pick up the 2-1 win at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
"It was a good match," UE head coach Krista McKendree said. "We had a game plan to limit their chances and try to prevent them from getting good looks at goal.
