The Edmonton Oilers have a number of issues that are likely keeping Peter Chiarelli and Todd McLellan up at night. And while volumes have already been written about the problems in goal and on the blue-line, most commentators are missing a weakness that exposes teams equally as fast:
Down the middle.
The loss of Connor McDavid sparked a number of issues, but I submit none more acute than at center ice. With #97 out until after Christmas, there is a hole in the donut. Show me, please, which NHL team has been successful without substantial strength at center ice.
