Stanley Cup-winning Oilers boss Glen Sather banner going up at Rexall Place

EDMONTON - Glen Sather’s accomplishments on and off the Oilers bench will be honoured in December at Rexall Place.

The team announced Monday that it will raise a banner to recognize the legendary coach and general manager prior to its Dec. 11 game against the New York Rangers.

Sather head coach for the Oilers Stanley Cup Wins in 1984, 1985, 1987 and 1988. He was the team’s president and general manager for the Oilers’ fifth Stanley Cup in 1990. He joined the New York Rangers in 2000, and stepped down as the Rangers’ general manager just three weeks ago.
