The Edmonton Oilers have one of the brightest young stars in the league in Connor McDavid, and next year, he is reportedly expected to wear the captain’s “C” over his heart come next season.
According to Mark Spector of Sportsnet, he fully expects the Oilers to give McDavid the captaincy at the start of next year, based on comments made by Peter Chiarelli, Taylor Hall and other Oilers at Sunday’s locker room clean-out.
“I would think so, that we would have a captain next year,” Chiarelli said.
The question, according to Spector, isn’t about who will get it, but more so about whether or not they will give McDavid more time or put it right on him next year.
