Oilers release pre-season schedule

The Edmonton Oilers, with the NHL’s top pick in tow and a new head coach on the bench, will open the NHL pre-season against the Calgary Flames on Sept. 21 and wrap things up Oct. 3 in Vancouver against the Canucks.

The first pre-season game for head coach Todd McLellan and his yet to be named staff, will be a split squad showdown with their Alberta foes with half the team playing at Rexall Place, the other half on Calgary’s turf.

The Oilers also will host the Winnipeg Jets (Sept. 23), Arizona Coyotes (Sept. 29) and the Canucks (Oct.
