Oilers opening night lineup starting to take shape ahead of division rival matchup

National Hockey League (NHL) training camps are coming to an end with the 2025-26 season right around the corner leading teams to make tough choices. The Edmonton Oilers are no different.

They have made a large number of cuts in recent days, sending many depth players and prospects to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. Trimming their roster has allowed the team's top lines to take shape as they enter Sunday night's match against their Pacific Division rival, Vancouver Canucks.

This is the Oilers final preseason game at home and looking at the lines, it seems to be a good indication of what to expect come opening night on October 8th against the Battle of Alberta rivals Calgary Flames.
