Oilers announce Young Stars roster featuring Connor McDavid

The Golden Child Connor McDavid will have his coming-out party at the four-day Young Stars Classic hockey tournament in Penticton which kicks off this Friday.

The first overall draft will tug on his No. 97 Edmonton Oilers’ jersey for the first time in a game against the prospects from the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets.

McDavid is the most ballyhooed draft pick since Sidney Crosby in 2005 and high-end NHL veterans are already lining up to sing the 18-year-old centre’s praises, long before his first game in October.

“He’s already a better player than me,” raved Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steve Stamkos at the NHL Player Media Tour Monday in Toronto.
