McDavid’s immediate priority to do well in Ontario Hockey League playoffs

EDMONTON - You would think with all that lies ahead for Connor McDavid — the NHL draft, his first NHL training camp, his first game on the big stage — that he would be inclined to look forward.

But the Erie Otters’ prodigy/Edmonton Oilers prospect said he still has some unfinished business, so it has not been difficult to focus on the Ontario Hockey League playoffs.

The Otters are grappling with the Oshawa Generals in the OHL final. Oshawa leads the best-of-seven series 2-1, with Game 4 on Wednesday at Erie, Pa.

“I owe it to my teammates, to everyone, to really bear down and focus on what’s at stake,” said McDavid, who was speaking on a conference call Tuesday not long after he was named the OHL’s most outstanding player of the year.
