At the 2016 deadline, General Manager Peter Chiarelli sent Justin Schultz and Teddy Purcell away and brought in Patrick Maroon. Since then, Maroon has gone on to lead the Oilers in goals, and now, the team looks much stronger. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t work left to be done.
Edmonton needs to do something to trigger more out of their offense and still needs a puck-moving blueliner on the backend. They don’t have a genuine offensive defenseman and having that would completely boost their potential.
Shattenkirk an Option?
In regards to this, Kevin Shattenkirk’s name is popping back up in trade rumors.
