Edmonton Oilers Sign Eetu Laurikainen To A 2 Year ELC

This one kind of came out of nowhere. On Tuesday morning, the Oilers announced that they have come to terms with Finnish goaltender Eetu Laurikainen.

The 22 year old caught the Oilers eye after spending last season with Blues of the SM-Liiga, and ended the season sporting a 17-10-9 record with a 0.933 Save % and 2.10 GAA.

Originally eligible for the 2011 draft, Laurikainen went undrafted and has spent the last few years quietly fine-tuning his game both in Finland and for the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL. During the 2012-13 season, he also represented Finland at the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championships where the Finns finished a disappointing 9th.
