The trade deadline has passed, and the Edmonton Oilers didn’t make any deals all through yesterday. In the past few years, stupid deals would be done for the short term by mortgaging the future assets this franchise would have. The man behind those incompetent deals, Peter Chiarelli, is no longer in charge anymore so now a more measured approach has to be taken moving forward.
Because right now, all eyes are focused on Bob Nicholson and the higher ups of the Oilers organization to get this right and show the fans and media alike that boneheaded deals are a thing of the past and a new era of long term dedication is in the works.
