Edmonton Oilers: Analyzing Possibilities of the 2016 Draft
The draft lottery will take place on April 30, 2016 this year, and once again the Edmonton Oilers will have high odds to win the first-overall pick and the rights to draft Auston Matthews. Most rumors however have Peter Chiarelli trading the pick for a top-pairing defenseman and shaking up the core of the team.
But what if the Oilers don’t win the draft and end up with the fifth overall? These are things that Peter Chiarelli will have to analyze after the lottery. There are a couple of scenarios I see playing out after the lottery positions are determined.
