The Edmonton Oilers recent trade rumor was indeed true. They have acquired forward Zack Kassian from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for goaltender Ben Scrivens.
The forward was told not to report to the Canadiens AHL affiliate Ice Caps after clearing waivers. After undergoing substance abuse issues in the beginning of the NHL season that culminated in a car crash, Kassian was put into a rehabilitation program. Only months later, he was allowed to return to NHL play. Now, he will be getting an orange and blue jersey.
Scrivens was a long-time starter for the Oilers, signed to a contract by the one and only Craig MacTavish.
