BUFFALO, N.Y. — The story is one that Connor McDavid has told before, but it was obvious from the smile that crept into view during a news conference on Thursday afternoon that the childhood anecdote was one he will continue to tell — particularly now that it is part of a marketing campaign.
The 18-year-old — who is three weeks away from the National Hockey League draft, in which it is expected he will become a member of the Edmonton Oilers — has already landed his first major sponsorship deal.
With the multi-year tie to Reebok-CCM Hockey, he joins the likes of Sidney Crosby, John Tavares, Pavel Datsyuk, Carey Price and Patrice Bergeron in the company’s stable of stars.
