Wrestling Concludes Day One of NCAA Championships

NEW YORK CITY (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University wrestling team wrapped up its first day of the 2016 NCAA Wrestling Championships Thursday night, March 17 at Madison Square Garden. The Eagles sent four grapplers to the mats throughout the day, with redshirt junior Nicholas Barber (Cleveland, Ohio-St. Edwards) advancing as the lone Eagle on to day two.

The 149 pounder dropped his first match of the day to No. 2 Brandon Sorensen of Iowa by 9-1 major decision, putting him in the consolation bracket. There he matched up with No. 15 and returning All-American Daniel Neff of Lock Haven.
