DETROIT (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University soccer team closed out non-conference play with 3-0 defeat to the University of Detroit Mercy Sunday, Sept. 17, at Titan Field.
The Eagles were outshot by a 10-8 margin, despite holding a 4-3 edge in corners. The Titans put a total of seven shots on frame, compared to the Eagles' three shots on goal.
The first half was a battle in the midfield as each team recorded just three shots. Set pieces gave Detroit Mercy the upper hand, as the Titans put two shots on frame.
Despite a few close calls, the game remained scoreless into the 28th minute, but an EMU miscue gave UDM a free kick inside of midfield.
