CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Following a sensational performance on the springboard that fueled the Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team to a pair of wins against Wayne State and Tiffin, Jan. 21, sophomore diver Tom Gillis (Halifax, Nova Scotia-Citadel) was named Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week. The league office's announcement, Jan. 25, marked the first time Gillis has won the award.
In addition to being the first Eagle to garner the distinction this season, Gillis is the first to do so since Andrew Henry was honored, March 9, 2016.
