AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team recorded five wins at Ocasek Natatorium this afternoon, but ultimately fell to Mid-American Conference foe Akron, 175-125, Jan. 18.
Senior Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville) and junior Bethany Berger (Batavia, Ohio-Glen Este) each picked up two wins for the Green and White, while junior Alyssa Shugarman (Oswego, Ill.-Oswego) also found a spot at the top of the podium for Eastern.
Gavigan won both the 100 and 200 yard backstroke events, and added both times to the program's all-time performance list.
