Soccer Drops Road Contest Against Western Illinois

MACOMB, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer team dropped the first of its two-game road trip to Western Illinois, 2-1, at John MacKenzie Alumni Field on Friday afternoon.

Both scores for Western Illinois came on penalty shot chances after EMU committed a handball violation in the first instance, and a foul in the other. The Leathernecks' attack tallied 24 total shots (nine shots on target), out-shooting the Eagles, 24-10.

Sophomore Amanda Cripps (Bradford, Ontario-Trinity Catholic) netted the Green and White's lone goal on a crossing chance from senior Lindsey Shira (New Baltimore-Anchor Bay).
