YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team will honor the 1966 squad with a celebration event following the EMU Fall Classic, Oct. 21, as this season is the 50th anniversary of the 1966 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics cross country national title.
The 1966 championship was the first national title won by the Eagles in department history. At the meet, which took place at the University of Omaha, the Eagles finished first with a total of 126 points, led by Tony Mifsud, who placed seventh. Behind Mifsud, Terence Norman took 21st, Kenneth Head took 25th, John Daniel placed 36th, and Glenn Duke nabbed 51st.
