(EMUEagles.com) – It was a pitch-perfect day at Scicluna Field as the Eastern Michigan University soccer team battled the University of Akron in a key Mid-American Conference matchup, Oct. 24. Earmarked as Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day, the Eagles fought hard but were unable to claim victory, eventually falling, 3-2.
A defensive back-and-forth in its beginning, the game was scoreless until Akron's Ashley Amato netted a shot from just in front of the goal, putting the Zips up, 1-0, with 17:08 gone by.
Although EMU was unable to score in the first frame, numerous Eagles put shots on-goal.
