Eastern Michigan Blanked 1-0 by Kent State

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University baseball team battled, but ultimately fell, 1-0, in its series finale against Kent State University today, May 14, inside Oestrike Stadium.

Freshman Sam Reed (Carmel, Ind.-Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) (2-3) got the ball to start for Eastern Michigan (23-26, 9-18 MAC) and took the loss. Despite the setback, the left-hander was stellar. He went eight innings, giving up just one run on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out five. Senior Nick Chittum (Grosse Ile, Mich.-Grosse Ile) was a bright spot for the Eagles as well, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one shutout inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and one strikeout.
