Eastern Michigan Football kicked off their 127th season in program history on Friday, August 31st by defeating Monmouth University. Transfer quarterback from Iowa University Tyler Wiegers lead the Eagles to victory by a final score of 51 to 17. Head Coach Chris Creighton moves one step closer to cracking the top five all-time winningest coaches in Eastern Michigan history with his 16th win.
Eastern scored their first points of the game and the season on a 16 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tyler Wiegers to wide receiver and team captain Blake Banham. Wiegers demonstrated elite precision on the drive, completing all eight of his passing attempts for a combined 88 yards included a 27 yard strike to wideout Dylan Drummond on 3rd and 11 to keep the drive alive.
