Eagles Shine in Doubles but Fall, 5-2, at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (EMUEagles) -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team traveled to Lincoln, Neb. to square off with the University of Nebraska Friday, Feb. 10, at the Dillon Tennis Center. The Eagles (1-6) dropped its third straight match, while the Cornhuskers (6-0) remained undefeated after their 5-2 win over EMU.

The Eagles were hot in doubles play. Juniors Ani Gogvadze (Tbilisi, Georgia-Khikani) and Maria Paula Ribero (Bucaramanga, Colombia) defeated Nebraska's Vasanti Shinde and Claire Reifeis, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles before juniors Alejandra Barcelo Almoyna (Alicante, Spain-IES Figueras Racheco) and Anna Veleva (Sofia, Bulgaria) teamed up to knock off Lisa Andersson and Hayley Haakenstad, 6-4, in third position.
