KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team had two representatives compete on day one of the Tennessee Relays Thursday, April 12, in Knoxville, Tenn.

Sophomore Gianna Salzbrunn (North Aurora, Ill.-Montini Catholic) competed in four events for the heptathlon, placing 12th in the 200m dash and shot put, while notching 14th and 15th in the high jump and 100m hurdles, respectively. Additionally, her 200m dash time of 26.78 and shot put distance of 8.96m both serve as personal records.

Furthermore, freshman Savanah Luthman (Minster, Ohio-Minster) competed in the hammer throw for the first time in her young career, marking a distance of 38.
