YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Sophomore Casey Gavigan (East Setauket, N.Y.-Ward Melville) of the Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team earned Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week honors for her performance last weekend against the University of Akron, the league office announced Thursday, Nov. 9. This is the first time Gavigan has earned the accolade while its the first weekly award for an Eagle this season.
In the exciting victory over the defending MAC champions, Gavigan aided Eastern with a pair of season-best times to sweep the backstroke events, while contributing to a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay.
