A new tear in the Eastern Michigan University Indoor Practice Facility was discovered Wednesday morning according to EMU officials. This is after the original tear caused the collapse of the facility on Nov. 29.
The facility will remain closed at least an additional two weeks.
“While the tear has been repaired and the dome remained upright throughout, we will be further evaluating the integrity of the structure to ensure the dome remains in the safest condition possible,” Eastern Michigan Vice-President of Communications Walter Kraft said.
EMU paid for the repairs with funds from an insurance policy with FM Global, which included a $50,000 deductible.
