Women’s basketball falls to Richmond in defensive battle

In a defensive battle that saw 36 total turnovers, the East Carolina University women’s basketball team fell to the University of Richmond Nov. 18 in a game that went down to the very last shot, 65-64.

ECU (1-2) opened the game on fire, scoring 22 points in the first quarter alone, and took a 41-33 lead into the halftime break.

The Pirates were slowed down in the third quarter, however, as they scored just eight points to keep the Spiders (3-1) in the game. A made-jumper at the shot clock buzzer by Richmond senior guard Micaela Parson with 1:08 left in the game gave the Spiders the 65-64 lead.
