ECU (13-11, 5-6 AAC) trailed the whole game, starting in the first quarter when it was outscored 20-13. The first quarter turned out to be the most competitive quarter the Pirates would have all game long. USF outscored ECU 23-12 in the second quarter and went into halftime up by 18. It got only worse in the second half, as the Bulls outscored the Pirates 18-9 in the third quarter and 27-13 in the fourth.
ECU only had 14 turnovers, its second fewest in a game this season, but just couldn’t get any offense going. ECU only shot 29 percent from the field and 18 percent from three point range on its way to 47 points, 18 points lower than its season average.
