After Watkins singled down the left side, Baker came in as a pinch runner for Morgan after he also picked up an infield single to line up runners on the corners. Watkins scored on a wild pitch during the next at-bat to help the Pirates (7-3) take their second lead of the game. Lloyd and Yorgen took consecutive walks to load the bases for Brown who launched a double that scored two more runs to increase ECU’s lead. The Pirates added one more insurance run after Tyler bunted safely down the right side to score Yorgen, but Brown and Tyler were later stranded on base to end the inning.
