East Carolina University women’s basketball team’s furious 16-point second-half comeback came up short as it suffered its first loss of the season to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington 66-62 last night.
ECU’s all-time record against UNCW now falls to 30-22 as last night’s loss is only the second time the Pirates have lost a road opener under head coach Heather Macy in her eight seasons.
“What a hard fought game and congrats to Wilmington, they played really well,” Macy said after the 4-point loss to UNCW.
The first quarter was a back and forth battle between forward Mickayla Sanders and Seahawks’ forward Jenny Degraaf.
