Three gentle giants helped ease some children’s fears about visiting the dentist at Eastern Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry on Friday morning.
East Carolina basketball players Caleb White, Kentrell Barkley and Marshall Guilmette were part of a large group of Pirates, including football coach Scottie Montgomery and Director of Athletics Jeff Compher, on hand for the 14th annual Give Kids A Smile day. The event, hosted by the East Central Dental Society, provides an opportunity for local kids to get free dental care in a setting less sterile and more inviting than most dentist offices.
In addition to the 20 or so dentist chairs placed in an open setting, ECU student-athletes, members of the cheer and dance teams and PeeDee the Pirate mascot spent time with the kids before, during and after their checkups.
