Pirates blown out in final home game

In its final home game of the season, the East Carolina University (11-19, 5-12 AAC) men’s basketball team suffered a 21-point loss to the University of Connecticut (17-12, 8-8 AAC). The Pirates could not rally around the career-high in scoring from freshman guard Tristen Newton in order to take one more win at home this season as the final score was 84-63.

“Obviously disappointed with a number of things,” head coach Joe Dooley said. “It was the first time in a while we’ve given in a little bit. The guys have been really resilient, I just think we had a number of things go wrong today and we couldn’t offset it.
