The East Carolina University Football program welcomed another new face to its defensive staff on Friday, as head coach Scottie Montgomery announced the addition of Daric Riley as the new safeties coach.

Riley comes to ECU after three seasons at Southern Methodist University, where he served the role of quality control assistant and special teams analyst, and designed tactics for the special teams unit. Riley brings 19 years of experience to Greenville, including 12 at the Division 1 level.

Riley will look to bring the success he had at SMU, where his unit ranked among the best in blocked kicks, ranking seventh, 23rd and 11th in 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively in the AAC, to an ECU defense which struggled in its consecutive 3-9 campaigns in 2016 and 2017.
