“One of the things that we stress in our program is the idea of improving,” head coach Tom Morris said. “Through hard work and discipline we can and can control improvement.”
This has been a season of firsts for both Ruiz and the Pirates, as Ruiz and sophomore Lisa Hofbauer became the first doubles team in ECU women’s tennis history to earn a seed at the ITA Carolina Regional. Ruiz also became the first ever player for ECU to receive an At-Large bid to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships out in California.
Ruiz attributes her success this season to the hard work she put in over the summer as well as the extra confidence it has given her.
