ECU’s Burleson named a freshman All-American

East Carolina University freshman Alec Burleson was named to the 2018 collegiate baseball freshman All-America team on Wednesday. Burleson was also previously named the American Athletic Conference freshman Pitcher-of-the-Year.

Burleson becomes the 16th freshman All-American in ECU history and the fourth to play under head coach Cliff Godwin, with the others being Joe Ingle in 2015, Dwanya Williams-Sutton in 2016 and Spencer Brickhouse in 2017. Burleson is the second Pirate to get All-America status this season alongside Bryant Packard.

Burleson posted a 5-2 record in eight starts, also recording four saves and a 3.33 ERA in 54.
