The No. 7 seed East Carolina University softball team was knocked out of the first round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament by the No. 2 seed University of Houston 3-1 today at the USF Softball Stadium in Tampa, Florida.This marks the second straight season the Pirates have been knocked out by Houston.
ECU (23-32, 8-13 AAC) had its season come to an end while Houston (36-19, 13-8 AAC) moves on to the semifinal to play No. 6 seed Tulsa on Friday.
Last season, as a No. 6 seed, ECU upset the No. 3 seed University of Central Florida 4-2 in the first round for the Pirates first ever AAC championship game victory.
