ECU lose to No. 24 Duke on the road, looks to bounce back at Maryland

The No. 14 ranked East Carolina University baseball team traveled to Durham, North Carolina to play No. 24 ranked Duke University and came out with a tough 7-2 loss on Tuesday.

The Pirates (12-6) were coming off a four game winning streak and a three-game weekend series sweep against Marist University after a very challenging spring break schedule. The game against Duke was the first one of a four game trip that the team will have on the road during this week, including a weekend series against the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.

Duke started the game off with one of the best innings of the season, as junior infielder Erikson Nichols earned an RBI and teammate senior outfielder Kennie Taylor scored the first run of the ballgame, giving the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead.
