ECU eliminated from Greenville regional

A delay due to severe thunderstorms stopped the game between ECU and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in the fourth inning at the Greenville regional on Sunday and held it there for more than five hours as teams waited for the weather to pass.

That would not be the only rain on ECU fans’ parade as the Pirates season came to an end after a nine-run fifth inning from the Seahawks sealed a 9-7 loss in an elimination game which would be the Pirates’ final game at Clark-LeClair Stadium this season.

“I just want to thank Pirate nation for coming out last night and tonight, late nights and rain delays,” ECU head coach Cliff Godwin said.
