Head coach Cliff Godwin said, “I told the guys before the game it was going to be tough, our goal was to be 8-3 at the end of 11 games and it’s not going to be easy, we’re going to have to earn it.”
Today Godwin got what he asked for as the Pirates got their eighth win on the season, putting them right at 8-3, but it was in no way a game that would be handed over to them without a nine inning fight by the Terrapins.
Boyd gave the Pirates four and two-thirds strong innings, giving up two runs on four hits and striking out four batters before being relieved by Nick Durazo, who struck out two hitters but was called in early after giving up a quick three hits in just under an inning.
