People who remember Patrick Ewing in the NBA as a New York Knick know that he was an excellent player but his Knicks teammate Charles Oakley said he was never the same player as he was at Georgetown, and he’s right.
At Georgetown, Ewing played with a ferocity that was astonishing. He burst on the scene as a freshman and frankly terrified opponents. One game his freshman year he personally demoralized Oregon State by blocking a shot on one end and beating the entire team to the other for a dunk.
They gave up. Honestly, they just did.
