YouTube Gold: Clifford Ray

Clifford Ray is one of the forgotten greats. He was the center of Golden State’s 1975 World Champions (Duke alum Jeff Mullins was a teammate) and at 6-9 backed down to no one. He was one tough customer.

He is from Union, South Carolina and might have played in the ACC or at least the region if the ACC and SEC and everyone else had fully integrated by 1967, his freshman year at Oklahoma, just one year after Texas Western beat Kentucky in the symbolic end of segregated basketball.

The ACC had just begun to integrate and wouldn’t be fully so for at least another decade.
