The US had little trouble with Japan and essentially turned the game into an exhibition.
It won’t be this easy again but we got an idea of what this team could be like in rhythm and when it plays with confidence. It shot well, picked the Japanese team’s pocket frequently and ran beautifully.
Things will get tougher in Round Two but for this game, the US was brilliant.
The gap between the US and Japan is very wide, but we did get to see some of the spirit that the Japanese brought to the 2016 Olympics, particularly at the end.
