Roberto Duran was one of the most feared fighters of all time. Known around the world as ”Manos de Piedra”, or Hands of Stone, Duran is still seen as one of the best boxers in history.
He fought American Sugar Ray Leonard in Montreal as a welterweight and it was clear that the two didn’t like each other.
Duran resented Leonard’s flashiness and the adoration that followed him, not to mention a bigger purse.
So in their first fight Duran poured it on and won a 15-round decision.
The rematch would be vastly different though.
