You Tube Gold: John Stockton

When John Stockton came out of Gonzaga it was still a bit of a novelty to think of the Zags as a basketball school. He had a lot to do with creating the aura of the program.

He was taken by Utah in the 1984 draft and stayed there his entire career, eventually breaking Magic Johnson’s NBA assist record. He had a lot to do with creating that team’s aura as well.

He was also a member of the 1992 Dream Team.

Never a flashy player, Stockton made his reputation by working hand in glove with Karl Malone, who arrived in Utah one year later.
