Twichell Finishes Top 12 in 400 Free at U.S. Trials

OMAHA, Neb. – Duke alumna Ashley Twichell turned in a top-12 finish in the women’s 400-meter freestyle preliminaries Monday to highlight the Blue Devils’ second day of action at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Ranked 16th in the event entering trials, Twichell clocked 4:11.17 in the second-fastest preliminary heat to place 11th overall – just one spot away from being an alternate for Monday evening’s finals. The 2011 Duke graduate and current Duke volunteer assistant coach has at least one swim remaining this week in Omaha, as she is slated to compete in the 800 freestyle preliminaries Friday.
