This Week in Duke Athletics History (December 14-20)

December 17

  • 1985 – Men's Soccer – For the third time in four years a Blue Devil took home the Hermann Award back to Durham as senior Tom Kain captured the top honor in men's college soccer.

"It's an award they give to one player, but I share it with all the players on the team," Kain said. "I won the award, but the guys on the team know I couldn't have done it without them," Kain told the Duke Chronicle.

The only four-time All-American in Duke history, Kain won over Michael Brady of NCAA finalist American, Michael King of Fairleigh Dickinson, Paul Caligiuri of NCAA champion UCLA and Erich Eichman of Clemson.
