DURHAM – Junior backstop Alex Stone was named to the 2023 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Watch List by the Wichita Sports Commission. Sixty-five catchers were nominated for the award by their school and the award is given annually to the top Division I collegiate catcher.
The watch list will be narrowed down to the semifinalists, are be announced May 22, 2023. Ballots are sent to the national voting committee at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. The finalists are announced June 6, 2023, with the final vote among national committee members occurring during the College World Series.
